Residents of Sector 7 have alleged robbery of eight LPG cylinders, last week, and that the theft was captured on the CCTV cameras installed at their homes.

It was alleged by the residents that on the night of September 12, a burglar entered at least four houses in a single lane, as their LPG cylinders were found stolen the next morning.

The CCTV footage of the cameras installed at their houses have revealed the man gaining unlawful entry into the homes from the rear and dragging out cylinders with the help of a cloth.

"The CCTV footage shows a man carrying the cylinders outside my home. He entered the house through the rear side, broke the latch of the cupboard in which I keep my cylinders, and made away with four cylinders," said Rashmi Mohunta, a resident of Sector 7. She further alleged that he used of a cloth hung inside the servant's quarter to drag the cylinders without making a noise.

She also said that the burglar seemed at ease, as it was raining that night and the electricity supply was off, leading to the movements of the man going undetected.

Four other LPG cylinders were stolen from two other houses in the same lane. The resident say that entry to the lane is restricted by gates and there is a watchman round the clock, but the watchman on duty claimed to have no knowledge of the occurrence.

An FIR was registered by the residents, who have also submitted the CCTV footage with the police.
