The Peace Club of Dev Samaj College of Education organised a signature campaign against terrorism and to promote peace between India and Pakistan on Friday. The campaign, started by city-based NGO Yuvsatta, will last a month — from January 9 to February 8.

Yuvsatta coordinator Parmod Sharma said the campaign will be launched in over 25 cities of India and 20 cities of Pakistan. The signatures collected will be submitted to the Prime Minister of India and the President of Pakistan.

Dr Jyoti Khanna, principal of the college, said the objective of the event was to facilitate assertion by the people of both the countries who want that the present crises should be resolved through dialogue, cooperation and appropriate actions by both the governments. Around 500 signatures were collected today in the college and organisers of the campaign hope to collect around 10,000 more in the city.

In her address, Madhvi Kataria, a PCS officer, appealed to the people and media of India and Pakistan to play a constructive role in this hour of crisis to strengthen positive attitudes for the resolution of all the outstanding problems and discourage escalation of conflict and adventurism that could jeopardise the peace and prosperity of both the countries.
