Retaining customers key to Indian telecos: Amdocs

Amdocs unveiled Amdocs CES 8,an advanced product designed to enable the telecom service providers to run leaner while preparing them to lead in the connected world wherein predictably by 2017 more than seven trillion devices will require support,bandwidth and new business models.

Amdocs CES 8 helps the service providers to evolve and expand efficiently by exposing network,IT and data assets to a growing ecosystem of content and developer partners. By obscuring the complexities of new applications,the portfolio drives personalized and simple customer experiences for the end users. The product with the application of advanced technology ensures that the service providers can run lean and agile operations. It also helps in improving overall efficiency and lowering the operational cost.

Larry Goldman,head of subscription research at Analysys Mason feels that in the connected world,dynamic customer demand,new technologies require flexible and cost efficient operations. Amdocs continues to deliver on its technical and business vision so that service providers can compete effectively, he adds.

Shrirang Bapat,vice president,R&D at Amdocs says that the software developed by the company helps the telecom companies to provision the services according to the suitability of the customers. Our products are being used by more than 250 telecom companies all over the world. Outside India,North America and Europe are our biggest regions in terms of the market, says Bapat.

Terming India as a market which still has a big room for growth,Bapat says that Amdocs employees 4500 people in the country. We are now focusing on identifying issues in the urban areas to give a ready platform to the telecom companies, clarifies Bapat.

Anshoo Gaur,General Manager and Head of Amdocs India,denies that India was ever insulated from the global recession even as he maintains that the focus of the telecom companies in the country is now more oriented towards the customer services. We see some stability in the market in the coming quarter,otherwise so far India has been sharing the global fate, he specifies.

Talking about a significant change which has been visible in the Indian market Gaur says that there has been a significant change in the focus of the telecom companies in India with respect to the customers. The upcoming shift in the market is from capturing to retaining the customers which has become a key for the telecom companies, Gaur clarifies.
