Mohan Swaroop (61), a retired IAS officer, died on Tuesday following a heart attack. His family alleged that the doctors at Lifeline Hospital refused to admit him, which led to his death.
Swaroop complained of chest pain on Monday night and the family took him to the hospital in Aliganj, which specialises in heart treatment. “My mother pleaded to the doctors for help. But they simply refused to admit him and asked us to go to another hospital,” said Akansha Swaroop, his daughter. “The reason cited was that they did not admit patients after midnight, even though the hospital claims to be open 24x7.”
“When they refused to budge, we asked them to at least arrange for oxygen while we shift him to another hospital. But they even denied this facility. He died on his way to another hospital. This is criminal and inhuman,” she added. According to Akansha, apart from filing a complaint with the DM, they will also file a complaint against the hospital with the police.
While no one from the hospital was available for comments, DM Chandra Bhanu said he had sent a magistrate to Swaroop’s house to gather all information. “We will look into the incident and the guilty will not be spared,” he said.
