The principal Opposition Telugu Desam Party stayed away from the event.

Earlier,TDP deputy leader Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu raised objection to the installation of YSR’s portrait in the Assembly lobby saying it was unprecedented.

“Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy and P V Narasimha Rao,who served as Chief Ministers, went on to become the President and the Prime Minister of India respectively. Even their portraits were not installed in the Assembly,” Gali pointed out during Zero Hour.

He also found fault with the Speaker for taking a “unilateral decision” on the issue.
