Ricoh targets Rs 250 cr revenue from India IT biz by 2013

The Japanese company also said it plans to become a Rs 1,000 crore firm in India by FY'13.

Japanese imaging solutions provider Ricoh,which recently made a foray into the Indian IT sector,is eyeing nearly Rs 250 crore in revenues from this venture by 2012-13,a senior company official has said.

The Japanese company also said it plans to become a Rs 1,000 crore firm in India by FY’13 and is looking to garner nearly 25 per cent of its revenues from its IT business.

Ricoh had acquired Noida-based IT company Momentum Infocare,a firm specialised in system integration,this June,marking its foray into the sector.

“We aim at generating around Rs 250 crore from our IT business,which will be nearly 25 per cent of our total business by 2013,” Ricoh India Director for Business Operations Sujit Sanyal said.

The company is also looking at more acquisitions of small and medium businesses in the country to expand its IT products portfolio.

“We are continuously on the look out for opportunities that will enable us to expand our IT portfolio. The sector is completely new for us. There would be other domains where we would need knowledge and so surely,there could be some more acquisitions as well,” Sanyal said.

The fast-changing IT sector,which is worth over USD 40 billion annually,has brought about drastic changes in the working of organisations and Ricoh has completely aligned itself with this transformation,he said.

“In today’s business environment,customers are looking for products and services that offer quality,increase efficiency and have a short turnaround time,with prompt after-sales service. We have felt the need to become a single point of contact for all the IT requirements of our over 1 lakh customers,” he said.

Ricoh also plans to spend around Rs 5 crore in the next six months on hiring over 100 people specialised in the IT field.

Sanyal,however,clarified that imaging solutions through digital printers,will continue to be its core business.

“Seventy-five per cent of our revenue will continue to be contributed by our core business of digital printers,” he said.

To become a leader in this segment,Ricoh plans to launch new products that will cater to small office-home office (Soho) customers.
