  • Barely 31 months in the saddle as Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad is itching to return to Delhi—or so the AICC circles have it. He has conveyed his desire to the Congress president, but she is not in favour of a change a few months before the state goes to polls. Union Water Resource Minister Saifuddin Soz is, however, keen to replace Azad. The party high command’s reluctance may be due to many top party leaders being vehemently opposed to Azad’s return. At a time when the Congress has suffered a string of electoral reverses, Azad could pose a serious threat to many in the corridors of power.
