Ring road project gets Pawar’s push

At a meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar,the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) officials made a presentation on implementing the long pending ring road project. The 161-km ring road is aimed at reducing congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad considerably. The project is estimated to cost over Rs 10,000 crore.

Pune Mayor Vaishali Bankar,PMC commissioner Mahesh Pathak,MLAs and corporators were present at the meeting at the Council Hall on Saturday.

“A lot of time has been spent on planning the ring road. Now it needs to be implemented immediately. According to the MSRDC proposal,the ring road will cover Pune,Pimpri-Chinchwad and other areas in Pune region,” Pawar said.

Pawar added that he would take the elevated Metro rail’s Ramwadi-Vanaz corridor proposal to the chief minister on Monday.

Pawar assured the public representatives that the proposal is likely to be cleared by the Cabinet by the end of next week.

“The state government has already given in-principle nod to the project. Once the proposal gets the final nod from the state government,it will be sent to the central government,” Pawar added.
