Jayesh Sachdev recently went international, showcasing his work at a leading art show in New York. The art show titled A Question of Beauty was hosted by Countess Stephanie d'Orglandes, founder of LeBazart, at her penthouse in Chelsea, the contemporary art district of Manhattan, from June 9 to 15.
Talking about his latest exhibition, Sachdev says that this series is an amalgamation of arts, fashion, photography and digital arts. "The process starts by selecting the right models as the muse, then a photo shoot is conducted using the muse as the canvas, with paint applied over her and finally followed by post-production, with digital imaging, to incorporate various mediums of art or designs to create one synergised work," says Sachdev.
“As an artist, I see art as visual expression; the medium was never the message. It was my intent to not segregate the works under a genre or medium but incorporate several styles and mediums to project a visual that is essentially urban, sensual, original, striking and provokes thought," he adds.
On the screening of artists for the exhibition, he says, “The Countess was opening a new art gallery in Chelsea and was looking for a fresh crop of pop artists from around the world. She contacted me in March and screened my previous work hosted in the art gallery websites.”
The preview attracted the crème de la crème from among New York's art aficionados, including publishing giant Prosper Assouline, fashion mogul Max Azria, restaurateur Yann De Rochefort, high-end architect Theresa Bienenamongst others. The artist, who shot to fame with his characteristic pop expressions, Raja Ravi Verma pop renditions and Nirvana series of Buddha paintings is ecstatic aout the success New York series, which are digital prints on archival paper are available in a total of two editions, one with LeBazart and other with Sachdev himself.
