Riteish Deshmukh, who is a huge cricket buff and was part of Sohail Khan's Celebrity Cricket League team, Mumbai Heroes, has now bought a team of his own and named it Veer Marathi.
At an event to announce the introduction of his team, Riteish was very ecstatic, and said how his experience of playing for Mumbai Heroes, (which kicked off with its first tournament in Sharjah in January this year) would help him build his own team of cricketers. "I have been playing a lot of cricket with Mahesh Manjrekar and other Marathi actors and this will help me in selecting and building a strong cricket team," he said.
However, the actor is still committed to Mumbai Heroes and will be playing from Khan's team this year.
"I will join my team next year and meanwhile I am talking to Shreyas Talpade, Mahesh Manjrekar and other popular Marathi actors to join my team," he said.
The actor has also ventured into producing Marathi films and his first project, Balak Palak, is currently doing the festival rounds. It is slated to release in Maharashtra in January next year. Riteish is also busy with the shooting of Grand Masti, Indra Kumar's sequel to the 2004, Masti.
Akshay Kumar ventures into regional films
Akshay Kumar who has been co-producing Hindi films with several other producion houses under his banner Hari Om Entertainment Ltd is now all set to produce regional films. The films will be produced under his banner Grazing Goat Pictures whose Hindi film Oh My God which released on September 28 continues to do good business. Ashvini Yardi CEO of GGP conceded that the company is kickstarting with Marathi and Bangla films but refused to divulge more details.
