Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) national president Ajit Singh accused the state government of trying to acquire land in Hathras, Mathura and Aligarh districts without informing the people about its purpose.
Addressing mediapersons on Thursday, Singh said the state government has issued notices to landowners in Aligarh’s Tappal area, Hathras’ Sadabad area and Mathura’s Math area for acquisition of their land.
“But the government has not made public the purpose behind acquiring the land. My party will oppose the move and soon launch an agitation,” Singh said.
He claimed that the existing Land Acquisition Act of 1894 has become old.
“This Act was introduced by the British. The Centre should introduce a new land acquisition Bill in the Parliament,” Singh said.
He also criticised the state government for selling sugar factories. “This is against the cooperative system. The sugar factories come under the cover of multi-cooperatives,” he said.
Speaking on the Bundelkhand Development Board, Singh said: “Bundelkhand comes under both UP and MP. It would not be a practical approach,” he said.
But he favoured the creation of a separate state of Bundelkhand.
