To deal with emergency situations at railway stations, the Mumbai Railway Police is considering the formation of a reserve force. At present, the Mumbai Railway Police has a team of 10-12 policemen which is sent whenever an emergency arises. Now they are contemplating a permanent force that would be stationed at Borivali, said Railway Police Commissioner Tukaram Chavan.

The squad would have a vehicle to access suburbs in case the train system fails. “Suburbs like Borivali have an easy road access but it becomes difficult to reach Virar and Nalasopara if train system fails,” Chavan said.
