  • Unidentified men allegedly looted Rs 50,000 at knifepoint from the employees of a petrol pump in Kirti Nagar area of West Delhi on Thursday night.

While the police maintain there were four assailants on two motorcycles, petrol pump employees claim there were as many as eleven of them on two motorcycles and two scooters.

One of the robbers was nabbed at the spot and later handed over to the police.

Police officers said the assailants arrived at the petrol pump at 11 pm. There were seven employees working at the station at the time.

An employee who did not wish to be named said, “One of the assailants got petrol for his vehicle, while another went to have water. Yet another went to switch off the CCTV camera installed at the station. Two of them went to the cashier, Sheesh Ram, who was standing outside his cabin. They tried to snatch his bag, which contained Rs 50,000, but he resisted. The assailants then took out a button-operated knife, threatened him and took his bag.”

After the loot, the assailants allegedly fled the spot. The robbers on the two motorcycles fled in one direction, while those on the scooters fled in the opposite direction, the employees claimed.

One of the robbers, Harveer Singh (22), tried to escape on a scooter, which already had two assailants on it, but fell off the vehicle. An employee, Sudhama Pandey, nabbed him, and along with the other employees, beat him up. He was then handed over to the police.
