As Kejriwal's India Against Corruption (IAC) reacted sharply, Vadra shut down the account.
The businessman son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi had on Sunday described the allegations — made by Kejriwal and lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Friday — about his property deals with real estate giant DLF as "manufactured lies" intended to gather "cheap publicity".
Ever since its metamorphosis into a political party, the IAC has portrayed the aam aadmi as its mascot, complete with Gandhi topis saying 'I am aam aadmi'. On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in response to Vadra's comment: "Evidence pouring in from mango men from across the country. Mango men wud (would) prove to be nemesis for the 'powerful'."
Kejriwal also promised more revelations on Tuesday. "DLF granted favors to Sh Robert Vadra. What favors did Haryana Govt grant DLF? How is DLF reply a bunch of lies? Will speak tomo (tomorrow) at 5pm," he tweeted.
In a statement issued on Saturday, DLF had denied having received any land from the governments of Haryana, Delhi or Rajasthan, and rejected IAC's insinuations of "sweetheart" deals with Vadra as quid pro quo for favours.
IAC's Kumar Vishwas advised Vadra to ask his mother-in-law about the 'banana republic' of India. "Calling it a banana republic is an insult to the country. He should ask Sonia Gandhi the reasons... because she is the one who has been running it. And if he feels this is not a good enough country or that people lack a sense of humour here, he is free to leave," Vishwas said.
One of Vadra's earlier status messages had said people tended to take everything too seriously, and did not seem to have a sense of humour.
