What was the main aim behind doing the A-Star rock concert?
There are two reasons. Firstly, I enjoy doing it. Secondly, Maruti A-Star completed a year and they asked me to be a guest at the concert, because they were targeting the youth. But I loved the idea so much that I told them that I would perform along with the bands.
Is performing with the likes of Indian Ocean and Parikrama a bit unnerving for you?
No, in fact it is very exciting. I cannot speak for them but I don’t have a competitive streak when I perform. I completely enjoy the music of Parikrama, Raghu Dixit et al.
So does this mean we will see you performing more often on stage?
I don’t know. I enjoy doing this. If it is for the right cause and right reason I will do it again and again.
Would you also like to form your own band?
Not really. My hands are too full at the moment. Being in a band is a lifestyle by itself. For me, my production house is my band.
Was it the making of Rock On!! that brought out the singer/performer in you?
You are absolutely right. Earlier, we used to have these jam sessions at our homes, but I never really had the courage to perform on stage. But Rock On!! changed it all. It served as a catalyst to instill confidence in me to perform in front of large audiences.
At present you are considered the Jack and master of all trades in Bollywood. How do you balance it out?
It is tough, but I am managing it. I have a great set of people around me who constantly keep reminding me that I have to concentrate on more than one thing. So if I am scripting they tell me that I should also act and vice versa.
... contd.
