Investigators say her last text was to friend at 11.30 pm, two hours before murder.
Approximately two hours before she was murdered on September 21 along with her parents, Karishma aka Rosie sent out her last message on the mobile phone to a friend. Police sources say the text message went out at 11.30 pm. They say she was tortured and killed after probably being made to witness her mother's murder.
On September 21, Rosie (22), her parents Y P S Chauhan and Rekha, were found murdered at their B-Block house in Rohini Sector 17. According to their post mortem report, death had been caused by "forceful impact of blunt object, leading to excessive bleeding and suffocation".
It appears that Rosie put up a fight. She was found tied to an iron grill of the window in her bedroom. A sari was used to tie her neck to the grill.
Of the three, Rosie had maximum external injuries on her body. "She was scratched and beaten several times as is evident from the blue marks on her face and other parts of her body. She has a deep wound on her neck. She was found bleeding from her mouth, head and face. Her feet were on the ground but the assailants probably tried to hang her from the window grill," a police source said.
At 11.30 pm, "Goodnight" was the last message Rosie sent to her friend whose number figures several times in her phone call records. The friend has already been questioned by police.
Investigators believe that it was Rekha who opened the door when the assailants came — her husband was fast asleep. They believe more than one person was involved in the attack. They also suspect that the assailants spent some time with the Chauhans before attacking them — a glass of water and a bottle of soft drink were found on a table adjacent to the bed on the first floor.
