  • A constable of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe from a person in the RPF office, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Friday.

Girirajsinh Jadeja was caught while accepting Rs 15,000 from one Himanshu Mehta, the ACB said, adding that the trap was laid on the basis of a complaint lodged by Mehta with the ACB.

In his complaint, Mehta had said that his grandfather had bought a house many years ago, which was now being renovated.

A few rail tracks were found there during renovation work.

Jadeja and his two senior officers, Inspector S K Dubey and Sub-Inspector R N Pandey, demanded Rs 1 lakh for not registering a theft complaint.

Eventually, the deal was finalised at Rs 25,000, in which the complainant had paid Rs 10,000 on Thursday.

The ACB said that while Jadeja was caught in his office, Dubey and Pandey managed to escape.
