  • Having underlined that she wants to give the Indian Railways a more humane face, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee is learnt to have asked her ministry and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to go slow on removing encroachments from Railways land. To drive home the point, Mamata was swift in removing the Sealdah Divisional Railways Manager who had served a notice asking some labour families to vacate the railway land they had been occupying for decades. In addition, Mamata has also asked the RPF to behave better and more politely with the travelling masses. Last heard, the RPF headquarters had sent out orders asking its men to “behave”.
