Hundreds of curious faces gathered in front of platform number 8 at Sealdah station on Wednesday. They were drawn by a short drama that was enacted by the RPF officers, who enacted cases revealing the possible threats that one might fall prey to if one is not conscious of a few things.
While the play kicked off with a jawan posing as a passenger who lent his mobile phone to an unkown individual in the station, the act went on to show how a terrorist uses the phone to pass on terror-related information to his partner.
“We have organised the drama to create awareness among the passengers about not letting any unknown person use their mobile phones, not to touch unclaimed baggage and also to refrain from accepting drinks or food from co-passengers,” said SS Das, Inspector, platform, RPF.
“For example, sometimes somebody uses another person’s phone and through code language passes information regarding terror activities,” he added.
Dressed as coolies, two RPF jawans were seen touching an unclaimed tiffin box after one of the passengers left their baggage in their custody. Then, the artificial baggage exploded.
“We showed people how some unclaimed luggage can carry bombs. We had carefully designed costumes where we showed blood with body parts strewn all over after the tiffin box blew up. This was done for impact and scare people,” said Das.
The 40-minute show also enacted incidents of robbery after being drugged and duped by co-passengers.
“I knew the dos and don’ts on the platform and in the train. But after watching the play, I will never forget the rules,” said Rima Das, a local train passenger.
