Jammu and Kashmir government has formulated a Rs 296 crore comprehensive project plan to renovate the Mubarak Mandi heritage palace,a seat of power of erstwhile Dogra Kings in Jammu. "Conservation and restoration of Mubarak Mandi heritage palace is on the priority list of the government. A comprehensive project plan of Rs 296 crore have been formulated by the state government through INTACH,a reputed consultancy of the country," state Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora said told reporters here. Jora,who reviewed the pace of restoration work,said that Centre has approved a grant of Rs 50 crore under 13th Finance Commission for restoring the old glory of Raja Amar Singh Palace,Dogra Art Museum,Royal Court and Gadvai Khana,besides Mahal of Raja Ram Singh's queens. In this regard a project has been formulated and submitted to the Centre for release of funds,he said adding the restoration works of these palaces would be taken up soon after receiving funds.
