RSS denies it is against four Delhi leaders for BJP chief

The RSS on Wednesday issued a public statement denying that it is opposed to four Delhi-based senior BJP leaders being appointed as the new president of the party.

The RSS on Wednesday issued a public statement denying that it is opposed to four Delhi-based senior BJP leaders being appointed as the new president of the party.

“Reports that the Sangh is against four senior leaders of the BJP are completely false. M Venkaiah Naidu,Arun Jaitley,Sushma Swaraj and Ananth Kumar are all senior leaders of the BJP and the Sangh has had cordial relations with them for a long time,” RSS all-India publicity chief Manmohan Vaidya said.

The statement came a day after Naidu visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur to meet Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, who was reported to have said a few days ago that a leader from outside Delhi would replace Rajnath Singh as the BJP president.

“The media is continuously publishing wrong stories about the RSS in connection with the new BJP president’s selection,” Vaidya said. “It is going to be the BJP’s own decision and the RSS gives its opinion only when it is asked for… The Sangh has neither suggested any name for the BJP president’s post nor has it opposed any name.”
