  • The Nagpur police, investigating into the bid to storm the RSS headquarters, have made sketches of suspects who had got the number plates of the car used in the attack painted at a shop on a highway about 2km from the Sangh headquarters.

Sources said that the owner of the shop turned up before the police and said he was the one who painted the number plates. Based on descriptions of the persons who he says had approached him, the sketches were made and sent to various places and Central investigating agencies.

The painter was initially scared and had kept his shop closed for two days after Thursday’s incident in which the terrorists who tried to attack the RSS HQ were gunned down, sources said. But he later decided to approach the police, sources said. Maharashtra Home Minister and Deputy CM R R Patil visited the RSS HQ today. ‘‘I went to the spot, spoke to the nearby residents and later met RSS chief K S Sudershan, who expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements.’’
