RTO to start two sub-offices in Baner and Hadapsar

The RTO had requested the PMC to allot its land to them for the sub-offices for the convenience of citizens. Accordingly, the PMC informed the RTO about the land that could be made available.

"PMC and RTO officers visited the land sites and shortlisted two in two corners of the city so that citizens in surroundings could benefit," said the proposal tabled in the standing committee.

It said the PMC has identified two amenity spaces in Baner and Hadapsar for the RTO sub-offices which would be allotted to them on rent for 30 years.

"The number of vehicles in the city has increased with the increase in population. Work related to these vehicles, and seeking a learning licence is done at RTO office in Sangamwadi while the permanent licence is obtained from the RTO office in Alandi," said PMC estate officer R T Shinde, adding that the city suburbs developed at a faster pace in the last few years and travelling from these places to Sangamwadi and Alandi Road has become problematic for citizens.

"The RTO sub-offices would help citizens save the trouble of travelling a long distance. This will also reduce workload on the two existing RTO offices," said an RTO official.

The plot of 3,097 sq metre in Baner and 5,119 sq metre of amenity space in Hadapsar will be the locations.

The PMC would get a rent of Rs 8.95 lakh for the Baner plot and Rs 13.49 lakh for the Hadapsar plot every year.
