  • Describing terrorism as an enemy of all civilised countries and people, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has asked both India and Pakistan to maintain calm in the aftermath of the terror attacks in Mumbai.

"The Government of Pakistan has made appropriate statements, but I've got to say what is called for in the period ahead is calm between Islamabad and New Delhi for what could be a very difficult period ahead," Rudd was quoted as saying in an ABC report.

"Terrorism is an enemy of all civilised countries and all civilised people," he said, adding "our challenge is to work with all of our friends, allies and partners in the world to tackle the scourge -- its causes, as well as its ugliest manifestations, which we have seen most recently in this great city Mumbai."

Meanwhile, the Australian woman who was operated after being shot by terrorists in Mumbai is now reportedly on her way home, escorted by her mother and a special medical team.

Sydney-based 24-year-old Katie Anstee was shot in Cafe Leopold on her first day in the city. Her boyfriend David Coker (23) has flesh wounds from bullets that grazed his legs. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has said that it made contact with all 84 Australians it knew were in Mumbai at the time of the attacks.
