Rupee slips to 46.95 against dollar

The Indian rupee depreciated by 2 paise to 46.95 a dollar in the opening trade.

The Indian rupee depreciated by 2 paise to 46.95 a dollar in the opening trade on dollar demand from importers.

The rupee had closed 15 paise higher at 46.93/94 a dollar in previous session.

Forex dealers said dollar’s demand from importers put some pressure on the rupee sentiment,but the losses were capped by better opening in stock markets.

Meanwhile,the Bombay Stock Exchange index,Sensex,recovered by 66.26 points,or 0.39 per cent,to 16,683.36 in the opening trade.
