Rusiya death: BJP MLA in judicial custody

More than three years after the mysterious death of Bhopal Development Authority's Chief Executive Officer M G Rusiya, BJP legislator Jitendra Daga was taken in judicial custody on Wednesday when he appeared before the CBI special court in Ghaziabad.

Rusiya's body was found on a railway track near Agra on September 11, 2009.

His family had pointed fingers at Daga with whom he was returning by an overnight train to Bhopal from New Delhi, forcing the Madhya Pradesh government to recommend a CBI inquiry.

While the CBI's closure report described the death as accidental, the special court pointed out many lies and discrepancies in Daga's statements. The special court ordered that he be tried for giving false evidence and criminal conspiracy.

Rusiya's younger brother Omprakash told The Indian Express that an application was moved in the court on Wednesday with a prayer that Daga be tried for murder.

The legislator is reportedly close to Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.

Jindal: Zee News plea for CBI probe rejected

A city court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by Zee News for investigation into an alleged attempt by Congress MP Navin Jindal to "influence" a hearing before the News Broadcasting Standards Authority in connection with the alleged extortion bid case filed by Jindal against Zee. Special CBI Judge Dharmesh Sharma said there was "no cause of action" for Zee News to file such complaint. "The points raised for direction to the CBI to investigate the matter against Jindal, his firm Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and its various officials were ex facie flimsy," said the CBI court.
