The day of judgement for the Sabarmati train carnage of 2002 has been postponed to February 22 from February 19,said defence lawyers after they were intimidated by Sabarmati Jail authorities on Thursday evening.
On the other hand,the Godhra district administration of Panchmahal in Gujarat that issued a circular imposing a ban on airing images pertaining to the train carnage before and after the judgement,said necessary changes would be made to the circular keeping the deferred date in mind.
According to a notification issued by Panchmahal District Collector Milind Torwane on February 16,news channels covering the judgement have been asked not to air images showing the carnage or the aftermath of the communal riots that followed in various parts of Gujarat in 2002.
Later,on Thursday,Torwane told The Indian Express necessary amendments would be made to the notification keeping the new date in mind.
There are 80 undertrials lodged in the Sabarmati Jail,of whom 14 are out on bail and five are juvenile. They were arrested by Gujarat police between 2002 and 2003.
