Mirzapur swimmer Sachin Kumar Maurya has been selected for the India camp for the Junior Asian age group swimming championships to be held from August 4 to 14 at Tokyo,Japan.
According to UP team coach GD Bariki,The month-long swimming camp for the event will be held from July 6 at Pune. The final India team will be declared after that. Sachin won two silvers and two bronze in the 36th Junior National Aquatic Championship 2009 held at Jaipur recently. UP bagged altogether 3 silvers and 4 bronze at the nationals.
UP swimmers who won medals include: Anjani Kumar Misra (Boys Group I; Gorakhpur): 50m Breast Stroke (Bronze),100m Breast Stroke (Bronze); Sonu Yadav (Boys Group II; Gorakhpur): 50m Back Stroke (Silver); Sachin Kumar Maurya (Boys Group II: Mirzapur): 200m Freestyle (Silver); 200m Individual Medley (Silver),50m Freestyle (Bronze),400m Individual Medley (Bronze).
Haseen,Amit shine
IMPRESSIVE batting performance by Haseen Ahmed (60 off 36 balls) and all-round efforts by Amit Mishra (44 runs; 3 for 10) were the highlights of the match as Khalsa Sports Club defeated Jyoti Cricket Club by 33 runs in their league match of the 4th Harish Sharma Memorial Cricket Tournament at KD Singh Babu Stadium,Lucknow on Sunday.

Varsha Trophy
FIVE league matches of the 8th Under-16 Varsha Trophy 2009 were organised at Chowk,Lucknow on Sunday. In the first match,helped by an unbeaten 94 run knock by Rohit Kishore,Safipur Cricket Club defeated Yorker Club by eight wickets. In the other league matches played during the day,NRCA beat Manchester Club by 50 runs,LCA Vikas Nagar beat Youth Club by ten wickets,Avadh Tigers Cricket Academy beat NYCC Blue by 22 runs while Gujral Cricket Academy beat LCA LU by ten wickets.
