‘Sad to see ‘saffron’ presence in Ramdev’s agitation’ : Church

Vincent M Concessao,archbishop of Delhi Arch Diocese,said he was “sad to see and hear Sadhvi Ritmbara,an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition and a known anti-minorities baiter” sharing the dais with Ramdev.

“One also saw a large number of saffron clad men adorning the dais,raising questions in our minds whether it was a national movement or political and/or a religious movement,” he said in a statement.

While the Archbishop condemned the police action,he justified the questioning by police who had given permission to the yoga guru only to conduct a yoga camp.

“I also appreciate the initiative taken by the Prime Minister to address Baba Ramdev’s concerns with regard to black money,” Concessao said.

The Archbishop,a founder member of the ‘India Against Corruption’ movement led by Arvind Kejrival,Anna Hazare and others,said he fully supports the uprooting of corruption from the country and is in favour of bringing the black money back to India which could help in many development schemes of the government.

“I,however,do not support arm twisting methods or the agenda of clean governance to be usurped by politicians for their own political gains,” he said.
