Actor-filmmaker Akbar Khan, who is all set to play Saddam Hussein in a film, admires the late Iraqi leader on many accounts. Khan has been signed to play Saddam Hussein in an upcoming film titled From President to Prisoner to be produced and directed by Suresh Kohli and was finalised after a long audition.
Khan is very kicked about the film saying that enacting the Iraqi leader would be very challenging. The world opinion on Saddam Hussein is divided into two. For half the world he was a hero, and for the other half,he was a villain. I have judged him on just one account, his war against former US President George Bush. I consider him a hero who fought against the double standards of the US foreign policy and Bush. The US used him as a tool. He had done a lot of good for his own country and the Middle East with his progressive policies on child education and facilities for farmers. Its a great pleasure to be in his shoes, even if it is a film, said Khan, who will be putting on 12 kilos and working on other nuances like getting a command on oratorship for the part. From President to Prisoner will go on floors early next year and will be shot in real locations in Iraq.
