‘Sadhus, sants should not dabble in politics’

Rao criticised Asaram Bapu for remarking that Congress president Sonia Gandhi should quit India.

Congress Committee Secretary,Hanumant Rao strongly criticised spiritual leader Asaram Bapu for his comment against Congress President Sonia Gandhi that she should quit India.

Reacting to it,Rao told reporters,”Sonia was married into the family of Indira Gandhi, whose son Rajiv was her husband and she has made many sacrifices in life.”

Rao said it is unbecoming of Asaram Bapu to describe Congress workers as “chamchas” of Sonia. “Congress respects all sadhus and saints, but they should stick to their work, instead of dabbling in politics,” he added.

The Congress secretary also said that the new team of office-bearers for the party’s state unit would be announced soon.
