Claiming that SAD had nothing to do with the election manifesto of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said despite SAD's differences with INLD on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue, their alliance would continue in the coming assembly elections in Haryana.
The CM was speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating a modern pack house based on five cold rooms at a cost of Rs 3.75 crore at Sabzi Mandi Salem Tabri on Saturday. This pack house has been constructed by the Punjab Mandi Board to preserve and store fruits and vegetables.
When pointed out that INLD had mentioned in it's manifesto that it would complete the SYL canal, Badal replied, "We have nothing to do with their manifesto. The SAD will never support the SYL canal.
"SAD is an integral part of the NDA but at the state-level adjustments had to be done in the interests of the party concerned." Saying that every leader has to see the interests of his respective state, Badal said INLD might have mentioned the SYL issue in their manifesto but a common minimum programme (CMP) had been worked out between SAD and INLD for the ensuing assembly elections.
Replying to another question, Badal said the SAD was fully prepared to contest the elections of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) as and when they are held.
Rejecting the accusations levelled by former CM Amarinder Singh with respect of the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences at Jalandhar, Badal said the former CM was a pro at levelling baseless allegations and none of his charges had been proved.
