Although I travel with red beacon car I don’t feel safe. I am constantly worried about the safety of my family as any other Mumbaikar. There is a constant threat on one’s safety while travelling in trains, buses, and taxis. Foreign countries have much more security as against Mumbai at least in public transport. We are only safe till the next attack.

Nothing has changed since 26/11. I don’t see that the security apparatus in the city has improved. At the end of the day everyone forgets what happened and people are back with their apathetic attitude. People were lighting candle but we all know how many voted. Mumbai is as safe as any other city.

Why are we always questioning our authorities? Should we not look at ourselves first and check what we are doing? Are we more aware of our surroundings? If yes, then we surely are safer.

A year has passed, but I don’t feel any safer today. This insecurity is bound to remain till our state government continues evading real issues. For anything to change here,we need a minister like home minister P Chidambaram, who’s dynamic and can get things done.

A lot of security measures being are taken in five-star hotels and airports but what can you do if sitting in a traffic jam, train or a crowded bus?

During the attacks I was staying in the heritage wing of the Taj from where I escaped several hours later. I have come down to India several times since then. I feel safe here and as far as security measures go,it has been strengthened to a great extent in hotels and airports. I have never considered it as inconvenience if I am stopped at the airports for questioning. Citizens also have the duty of maintaining proper vigilance and reporting it if they spot anything untoward. The attacks have unified the country in a way. I feel proud that the biggest gesture from the Muslim outfits in India was their refusal to bury the bodies of the terrorists in their cemeteries.

Eknath Khadse Leader of Oppn
The state government seriously talked about measures to overhaul the system in the wake of the terror attacks for a couple of months after the attacks, but the intensity has declined steadily. The necessary quantum of measures has not been taken.

This is just blah- blah, nothing beyond lip service. It is necessary for India to go in for tit for tat attacks on Pakistani soil. It is necessary to hang Kasab publicly after his confessional statement.

After the attacks, the state government has created a commando force, but the intelligence gathering network is not adequately strong. The lives of people are still in danger. The government must strengthen the intelligence network, introduce modern weapons and provide better training.

Anant Gadgil Congress
The government has taken all possible measures to make Mumbai as safe as possible. Terrorism has not been stopped completely in any part of the world. Terrorists always come up with new ideas and methods. Citizens must remain alert all the time instead of depending on the government and police.

The Mumbai terror attacks and the recent blasts in Assam point to an intelligence failure. It is necessary to see why terrorism is increasing and the ways to counter it. The masterminds must be nabbed.

Security lapses still exist. Though Taj and Oberoi have been secured today, unfortunately there are many sensitive spots in Mumbai. Combing operations don’t seem to be happening at sensitive spots. The illegal slums and illegal influx into the city must be stopped.
