Salaam Zindagi holds blood donation camp

  • Salaam Zindagi Foundation, a city-based NGO today celebrated Dr Karl Landsteiner’s birthday, observed as World Blood Donors’ Day throughout the world, at Pindi Dayal Dharamshala here today. It was the regular 16th monthly voluntarily blood donation camp of the NGO where 51 units of blood were collected.

    Satish Soin, president of Bhartiya Sewa Sang and Saiber Packing Private Limited, was the chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated the efforts made by the members of the foundation for promoting blood donation in society and holding monthly blood donation camps. Soin donated Rs 51000 to the foundation. Parveen kumar, an industrialist and a social worker, who was the guest of honour also donated the blood.

    The Blood Bank team of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital led by Dr Amarjit Kaur and Dr Ravish conducted the camp. People from various walks of life donated blood on this occasion. Making an appeal to the city residents, Salaam Zindagi Foundation urged the people to extend their cooperation towards the noble cause and help it meet the blood requirement for the thalassaemic children who have to undergo blood transfusion every fortnight for their survival.
