Salary issue: IIT-K to wait for Council decision

  • The Faculty Forum of Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) has decided to wait for the IIT Council notification before taking a decision on the Sixth Pay Commission package issue.

    Though IIT-Delhi faculty forum had accepted the Sixth Pay Commission package after the assurances made by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry, the faculty forum of IIT-K has announced that it will wait for the outcome of the IIT Council meet, which is scheduled for October 19 at New Delhi.

    This was announced on Friday evening after the general body meeting of IIT-K faculty forum was held.

    Convener of IIT-K faculty forum Rajeev Shekhar said: “The IIT Council is our apex body, and we want the council to take up our issue.”

    The forum has unanimously taken the decision to wait for the IIT Council meet, he added.
