Probing the sale and consumption of drugs at certain high-end pubs and clubs across the city, the Mumbai Police’s Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) claims to have stumbled upon an alarming trend of ‘bouncers’ at such hangouts acting as middlemen between drug dealers and the consumers.
According to the police, several suspects have been identified and the police are gearing up for a crackdown on this trend.
“Initially, we had suspected that the pub management might have hand in these anti-social activities in the clubs. However, we have recently discovered that the drug dealers have befriended the bouncers in clubs who act as middlemen between drug dealers and consumers,” said an officer from the ANC requesting anonymity.
“Drugs like cocaine are expensive and are consumed by upper middle class youths or young professionals who frequent pubs,” he added
