Former law professor demands compensation.

Former law professor Chitra Salunkhe, who accused IG (Planning and Coordination) K L Bishnoi of colluding with former Siddharth College principal I A Inamdar to clear a law exam despite skipping a practical test and seven senior IPS officers of shielding him by allegedly filing false reports, has now demanded a judicial probe into the matter.

The demand made in an affidavit filed before a division bench of Justices V M Kanade and P D Kode comes three months after a DGP report filed to Bombay High Court gave a clean chit to the accused.

The affidavit says the DGP report is "not totally acceptable".

"It is necessary that a judicial inquiry be conducted in the matter (by a retired Supreme Court judge or a retired High Court judge)," it says.

Salunkhe has also sought compensation. HC had asked DGP in April to probe the matter and report to it.

The DGP report filed on July 24 absolved officers Rakesh Maria, Sanjay Saxena, Naval Bajaj, Vishwas Nangre-Patil and Pankaj Gupta of criminal misconduct and recommended advisory notes to Brijesh Singh and M M Rathod for oversight and non-application of mind.

Posting hearing on October 29, Justice Kanade said, "We feel some workable arrangement should be made as several high-ranking officers are involved in the case."

The story so far

Chitra Salunkhe alleged IG K L Bishnoi cleared a law examination despite remaining absent for a practical test on March 12, 2005.

She said he colluded with I A Inamdar, principal of Siddharth College, where the examination was held, to pass.

HC asked DGP in April to probe the matter and report to it.
