The Delhi Police today arrested what they called a gang of four men for the alleged murder of BPO manager Jigisha Ghosh and television news producer Soumya Vishwanathan.

The men — three of them detained on Monday — are main accused Ravi Kapoor, Amit Kumar Shukla, Baljeet Malik and Vijay Kumar. The police are on the hunt for the fifth accused, Ajay Kumar.

Said Commissioner of Police Y S Dadwal: “The murders of both Jigisha Ghosh and Soumya Vishwanathan have been solved with the arrest of these men. Ajay Kumar is still on the run.”

The police said 28-year-old Ghosh, an operations manager with Hewitt Associates in Noida, was smothered to death by Ravi Kapoor in the early hours of March 18 after she was dropped off by the office car at her CPWD housing colony near the PVR Priya complex.

Also in her twenties, Soumya Vishwanathan, who worked in Headlines Today, was shot dead in the same area and by the same group on the morning of September 30, 2008, police said. Both women were returning home after the night shift.

Asked what led the police to conclude that both had been killed by the same group, Dadwal said: “The accused have confessed to killing them both. Moreover, we have recovered the pistol that killed Soumya. Cartridges have been found too and all evidence will be sent to the forensic department.” He said that the bullet that hit Soumya’s head was fired from this pistol.

Delhi is not safe for Common peopleBy: Venkat Ramanan R | 25-Mar-2009 Reply | Forward Delhi is save only for Politicians and their family. It is not safe for common citizens. This is not an isolated incident, police never increase patrolling and if the they do it temporarily only after such incidents, they are busy guarding these politicians are these politicians worth to be protected. The politicians will never give up their prestigious unwanted protection, so that the police will be freed to guard the people. And more over the no one is attempting to improve the status of the lawless Bihar and UP , they are further making it lawless.
Interesting InsightBy: Sanjay | 25-Mar-2009 Reply | Forward It is very interesting that the criminals were carrying High Court Stickers, Three-Star plates and a Red Beacon Light.Obviously, they expected to use these things to get out of trouble. It gives you an insight into the sorry state of this country, when having a Red Beacon Light on your vehicle means the Police will step aside and let you go on your way, even if they suspect you to have participated in a criminal act.
