Samjhauta bombing accused now claim 2004 Jammu mosque blast

The NIA is planning to seek further remand of suspects Rajendra Choudhary and Dhan Singh for their alleged role in the 2007 Samjhauta Express bombing and 2008 Malegaon blasts. Both of them will be produced in a Mumbai court Friday. Choudhary was arrested on December 15 and Singh on the 18th. Sources said they have already confessed to their roles.

Both of them have apparently claimed to have thrown a grenade outside Peer Mitha Mosque in Jammu during Friday prayers on January 9, 2004. Two of the 20 people injured had later succumbed to their wounds. The NIA now plans to request the Jammu and Kashmir police to hand over the probe in the case.

The NIA has also claimed a "breakthrough" in the two murders in Madhya Pradesh apart form that of Sunil Joshi, alleged to be the main bomber of the Samjhauta blast.

On Wednesday, an NIA team from Delhi led by SP Vishal Garg had also scoured the Bagli forest areas in Dewas, MP, where the briefcase bomb allegedly used for the attack was tested for clues. They had taken along with them the two suspects too. The samples collected from there have been sent for forensic examination.
