z Unlike Juhu case, victim was allegedly raped before murder; now serial killer theory doubtful, say cops
The Woman whose body was found in a suitcase near Sandhurst Road station on Tuesday was four months pregnant, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP) officers probing the murder. She may have been raped before the murder and died of strangulation, cops said.
Police also confirmed that the woman whose body had been found on the Juhu Beach recently was smothered and not sexually assaulted. With the new findings, cops hinted that the serial killer theory may not hold ground.
In another development, police officials from the Vasant Kunj area of New Delhi told the GRP on Wednesday that a woman who had gone missing from the area in December resembled the Sandhurst Road victim. Police officials are yet to identify the woman.
Additional Director General of Police (GRP) Raj Khilnani said,Post mortem has revealed that she was four months into pregnancy. Medical experts have also confirmed that she had been killed by strangulation. Reports suggest that she had sexual intercourse before the murder which indicates that she might have been raped before the murder. We are conducting enquiries to trace the identity of the woman and the killer.
Asked if the CCTV cameras at the railway station could help trace the killer,Khilnani said,The man who had dumped the suitcase was standing at an angle where his face cannot be seen in the camera. He was standing at quite a distance from the cameras because of which the images are not of much use.
Khilnani said they plan to check the cameras of nearby stations. We have not pinned our hopes on the footage. Our major clues would come after the woman is identified.
