The Vedic Village Spa and Resort’s visitors’ book is an interesting read, showcasing how the powerful and the mighty have enjoyed its hospitality and care. The book records comments by Who’s Who of the country — from politicians to Bollywood celebrities who have heaped praise on the Spa and Resort’s luxurious service.
Trinamool Congress leader and Union Urban Development Minister Sougata Roy too recorded his deep appreciation after his visit and short stay there. “A lifetime experience. I feel fresh and better,” he wrote.
Former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, were all praise for the spa and the resort after their visit. A look at the testimonials in the resort’s guest book, now posted on the Vedic Village website (a copy of which is with The Indian Express), shows how they all spoke of their experience in glowing terms. “Yes, I went there several days ago. I stayed there for one or two days for treatment,” Roy said, hastily adding that “Rezzak Mollah frequented there and therefore the controversy”. “I did not frequent the place,” the minister said.
Roy’s party Trinamool has launched an agitation against the Vedic Village land scam and demanded that the land be returned to the farmers. According to the Vedic authorities, Roy’s testimonial was written last year when he was an MLA from Bongaon in North 24-Parganas.
Not long ago, Roy’s party chief Mamata Banerjee was furiously wagging fingers at state Land and Land Reforms Minister Rezzak Mollah and Tourism Minister Manab Mukherjee for having enjoyed hospitality at the resort.
