Sania Mirza, seeded 31st for the 2008 Australian Open, would open her campaign in the year’s first Grand Slam tournament against wild card Iroda Tulyaganova. The Uzbekistan player got a wild card entry after she won the Asian Championships last year, beating India’s Tara Iyer.

Sania and Iroda will be playing each other for the first time.

If Sania clears the first hurdle, she could face local challenger Sophie Ferguson.
