Sarojini Nagar parking to open June 30

The New Delhi Municipal Council is aiming to complete the construction of the Sarojini Nagar automatic multi-level car parking lot by June 30.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is aiming to complete the construction of the Sarojini Nagar automatic multi-level car parking lot by June 30.

Once the parking lot is ready,vehicle-owners will not be allowed to park their cars by the side of the road. Surface parking, however, will be at the designated parking lots.

The NDMC also plans to open the Baba Kharak Singh Marg automatic multi-level parking by June 30.

The facility has pallet technology, allowing a user to place his vehicle on the ground floor ,after which the pallet will move and park the car in a vacant spot.

An NDMC official compared the system to Rubik’s Cube, where through a continuous space shift, parking and fetching a car can be realised. Also in the pipeline is the opening of the Shivaji Stadium parking lot for the general public.

The two multi-level parking projects were slated to be ready in time for the Commonwealth Games, but were delayed due to clearance issues.

The third multi-level parking, planned at Kasturba Gandhi Marg,is stuck due to lack of clearance from the Archaeological Survey of India.
