Forgive the cliche, but it is that time of the year again to look back and forward. This year, Bollywood's leading ladies made a fashionable impression — be it making a statement on the red carpet or turning heads with their personal style. Red carpet dressing, proved Deepika Padukone early in the year at the Screen Awards, is not just about being togged in elaborate Indian wear. Bollywood's leading lady sizzled in a long, sea green Gauri and Nainika outfit with tapered wrist-length sleeves and a plunging back that showed off her slender waistline. She remained loyal to the silhouette through the year.

It was also a year that saw Sonam Kapoor assert herself as one of the most fashionable actors in Bollywood. She wore a mix of high street labels — Anamika Khanna, Naeem Khan, Dior, Cavalli, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana — with ease and elan.

Like Ranaut, there's something about That Girl In Yellow Boots. Kalki Koechlin showed that a bit of quirkiness can result in applause. Through 2012, Koechlin surprised us with her ability to wear both casual and chic in her unique way. During her outing with the Gangs of Wasseypur team at the 65th Cannes Film Festival, where she wore a Sabyasachi half-sari ensemble, and at the Marrakech International Film Festival, where she wore a Gucci dress, Koechlin showed how serious she is about high fashion.
