The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Wednesday intercepted three Kashmiris at Rupaideeh checkpost in Bahraich district on the Nepal border. The trio had reportedly travelled from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to Nepal, from where they entered Indian territory this morning. They were identified as Mohammad Akbar Lone (ex-JKLF) and ex-Hizbul men Mohammad Shafiq Bar and Manzoor Ahmad Zargar.
SSB sources said that according to information from the CID wing of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiris arrived here under the state governments rehabilitation scheme.
The sources said the SSB will take the Kashmiris to Delhi, where they will be handed over to J&K CID officials at the Ministry of Home Affairs tomorrow. The SSB and the local intelligence unit of Bahraich district recorded their details. The officials found driving licences, passports and some other documents issued in their names by Pakistani authorities. In the last six months, over two dozen such Kashmiris have entered India under the J&K rehabilitation scheme along with their wives and children through Sonauli border in Maharajganj district.
