The Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal, founded by Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, has announced that the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav will take place from December 11 to 16 this year at the New English School Ramanbaug grounds.
The festival was initially known as the 'Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav' but has been renamed as the 'Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav' last year after the demise of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.
"This being the 60th year of this mega music festival, which enjoys patronage of music lovers from all around the world, the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal has decided to hold it for 6 days," said Shrinivas Joshi, Executive President, Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal.
