'About 1.5 lakh applications were received by SBI and 70 per cent are outsiders.'

Continuing its agitation for the cause of sons of soil, Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has written a letter to State Bank of India (SBI) for considering locals for the new jobs.

"We have written a letter to SBI administration demanding consideration of locals on priority for 1100 clerical posts announced by them," said MNS general secretary Shirish Parkar.

SBI is holding an entrance exam in Mumbai on Sunday and the administration has assured the MNS to speak to the authorities in Delhi regarding their demand.

"About 1.5 lakh applications were received by SBI and 70 per cent are outsiders. The posts are local and Marathi people should get priority for that," Parkar said.

MNS had also raised the issue during railway board exams last year, which took violent turn as the party activists attacked 17 railway board examination centres in suburban Mumbai, and chased away candidates from north India.

full supportBy: Nandini Dharkar | 15-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward raj dada is doing everything right we are proud of him there must be some one like him today in maharashtra let him continue what he is doing at the moment all marathi people should join accompany and support him always
Very dangerous MNSBy: Gopal | 15-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward If Raj Thackery is not checked immediately, all the political parties have to regret later for ever. This man has started poking his nose in each and every matter. Bank recruitments are not region based though vacancies are announced region-wise. The very definition of "outsiders" is very dangerous. People who reside in a state for a longer period should be treated as locals. If people like Raj Thackery are not checked now,IT WILL BE TOO LATE LATER !
priority to marathisBy: rajneesh sharma | 14-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward with the reservation culture in India i.e sc, st, bc, obc etc. what is wrong if Raj Thackrey is demanding priority for marathis in maharashtara. yes this a step towards disintegrating India and shattering the dream of Sardar Patel. But then reservations in jobs and education have already done that damage. So if you want to halt the disintegration of India and prove that Raj Thackrey is wrong then treat every Indian Citizen equally regardless of their cast, religion and region. Get rid of reservation and instead intill a fanancial and robust education mechanism. i.e. good schools and colleges for the poor and socially backward people. compulsary education for everyone upto the age of 18. That is the only way forward otherwise keeping reservation for centuries won't do any good and people like Raj Thackrey will demand region based reservations.
I dont supportBy: Ashish | 14-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I am Marathi but I dont support this kind of things. Definitely prioriry should be given to locals but there should be some quota and based on merit basis. Now UK, US and other countries too are following same trend to strict the VISA policy for skilled ppl from India and other asian countries too. everybody is servant of stomach and to meet the two ends of life we need to go anywhr. If this continues the same ppl will go for wrong way and whats happening in Pak, we will not be far from that day where insider will attack on each other. Either ppl or party like this should be banned who provoked the ppl.
provoke?By: sam | 15-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Whats there to provoke, IF MNS is stating facts, it is worrysome, How can anyone justify 70% appplicants from outside are apearing for exams when locals are still strugling to find jobs, it is as make locals beggars, & provide local resources to people from far lands as far as it takes 24hrs travel time. Look at BARC mor than 70% are malyalees, Railways majority are from UP/Bihar, same was the case with AAI Mumbai, till Shiv sena sateted agitation all of sudden picture changed. Its high time locals are given preference, so is case in UP/Bihar too, to be a contarctor for mining activity you need to be local. You dont need any politicians to provoke, after long unjustice people will revolt this just what hapening in Maharashtra.

Global economy - no more borders for trade, travel, religion, freedom of speech? Sad with the divide and rule philisophy by the illiterate regigious fanatics, who claim to lead the people? not true? We all need to unit and standup against these ignorants.
