  • The UPA-Left coordination committee will discuss the Supreme Court judgment staying the OBC quota implementation next week. “We have been told that the UPA and Left parties will meet after the SAARC summit. After that we think there will be wider consultations with all political parties on the quota issue,” CPI(M)’s Sitaram Yechury told reporters after a meeting of the party politburo.

“It is a very serious issue that the court has stayed a near unanimous legislation of Parliament. While it is the right of the legislature to make laws, it is a right of the judiciary to interpret them. We think this delicate balance has now come into question,” he said.
