  • The Supreme Court today began hearing afresh the high stake battle between Ambani brothers after Justice R V Raveendran, who was part of the bench recused himself from hearing the matter yesterday.

Commencing arguments afresh before the three-member bench led by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, senior advocate Harish Salve appearing for Mukesh-led Reliance Industries Limited, submitted a detailed note elaborating the genesis of the dispute to the bench. The newly-reconstituted bench, now comprise of Justices B Sudarshan Reddy and Justice P Sathasivam after Justice Raveendran yesterday informed that his daughter worked for a law firm which advised Mukesh’s RIL on global acquisitions.

As Salve was advancing his arguments afresh, senior advocate Ram Jethmalani for Anil-led RNRL accused him for making arguments contrary to the ones put forth before the Bombay High Court. “I should be allowed 10 to 30 minutes at the end of the day to make arguments as the other side has argued exactly to the contrary before the High Court,” Jethmalani said.
