The Supreme court on Wednesday stayed the non-bailable warrant issued by a Jharkhand court against MNS chief Raj Thackeray for his alleged statements and hate campaign against North Indians.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan also exempted Thackeray from his personal appearance in the Jharkhand court.

The apex court passed the direction on a petition filed by the controversial MNS chief seeking transfer of the various cases filed in courts of Bihar and Jharkhand against him for his alleged statements and hate campaigns against north Indians.

Thackeray had also sought the transfer of these cases outside Bihar and Jharkhand to ensure a free and fair trial.

Raj Thakrey is rightBy: Girish | 10-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Thats Great decision by SC. It justifies the principle of natural justice. Jharkhand has no jurisdiction whatsoever over what has been said in Mumbai. It just shows the mentality of those filing such cases and lack of proper deligence on part of court as well while admitting such cases. And neways whatever he says is very much relevant if one does not believe then look at Tamilnadu. They just do not tolerate any attack on their culture/language. If a marathi Manus does the same then it becomes a crime. What kind of people are these who claim to be law makers(read as bunch of idiots...I cannot call them as jokers since it was reserved for indian cricket selectors by Amarnath)
Raj ThakreyBy: Indian | 08-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward It is indeed sad that the SC has ruled in this manner. People like Thakrey deserve no sympathy at all.

S C stays non-bailable warrant against Raj ThakreBy: k p chandra | 07-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward The decision of the Apex Court is in right direction. While no one supports Raj Thakre for his remarks and hate, filing cases in courts which have no jurisdiction over the incident that took place in Mumbai and admitting such cases by such courts and even High Courts supporting it is definitely against natural justice. This tendency of filing cases outside the jurisdiction area also reflects bias by the concerned parties - be it the litigant or the courts. Raj Thakre must get punishment for his utterances, but through the natural way of justice. Hope our courts will take lessons from this and will not admit such cases in future.
Thakre is Indias Bhindranwale No 2By: Mushtafalique | 07-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Its very sad that in times of such turmoil our honorable court has let this 3rd rate politician Raj Thakre, who has the potential of becoming India's Bhindranwale No.2 has been let off the hook so easily. Trouble makers like him should be made an example of
